Welcome to 2017!

Happy New Year! I hope 2017 has been treating you all well so far.

I have been thinking a lot about plans for the year—for my blog posts, publishing plans, and writing time, etc. As you can see, I've already made one big change by giving this site a new look! What do you think??

I haven't made a decision about the posting schedule going forward—weekly? monthly? bimonthly? One of the concerns is the need to focus on writing fiction as opposed to only blog posts. And there's the fact that, now that I am focusing on indie publishing (for the moment), there isn't much to discuss in terms of process, or learning about the industry, etc.—subjects which dominated the early years of this blog. Do you have a preference for posting frequency?

There are of course industry events, like the shocking closing of All Romance e-books. I am quite fortunate that I personally never published with them, and therefore can't express much besides disgust for how authors and readers are being treated in what seems like a fraudulent, money-grubbing move. The whole situation reminds all of us authors how tenuous our situation is, how hard we have to protect ourselves against theft, fraud, and other abuses within the industry. I hope the affected authors are quickly successful in reclaiming their rights and being paid what they're due, though of course since they will almost certainly have to go through the legal system, it may take quite a while. It's a rough way for both indie and traditional authors to start the year (or end the last one, technically).

The best we can do is move forward, keep building on our community, even as we keep our eyes open. To that end, I have an exciting giveaway opportunity to share with you all next week—and of course next month is the anniversary of both this website and Mending Heartstrings. Stay tuned for all the related excitement!

Meanwhile, I do have one more big change to share with you all: Mortal Musings is now available through Kindle Unlimited!

And everyone (not just those in KU),  can start reading for FREE right here

Regardless of what my posting schedule turns out to be, if you would like to keep up-to-date on everything going on, you can join my newsletter and my VIP Reader Group.

Here's hoping 2017 is filled with wonderful books for us all!
